He represents plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of business disputes from inception through trial and appeal, and has appeared in numerous state and federal courts. He has handled matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, indemnification, tortious interference, post-judgment collection, complex construction disputes, and theft of trade secrets.
Julian’s clients have included private equity firms, financial services companies, family offices, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and real estate firms, among others. He began his career at Public Citizen Litigation Group in Washington, D.C., where he worked on matters involving consumer class actions, grand jury secrecy, the Federal Arbitration Act, and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Julian then worked at an international law firm in New York City and a small litigation firm in New Jersey.
REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS
- Represented private equity investor as trial counsel in a derivative suit in New York state court for breach of fiduciary duty, securing a $21.7 million judgment, and in post-judgment discovery and enforcement matters
- Represented broker-dealer in New Jersey state court case alleging tortious interference with prospective advantage
- Represented broker-dealer in Delaware Chancery court case involving claims for indemnification, breach of contract, and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing
- Represented real estate development firm in contract disputes in federal courts in New York and Ohio
- Represented system of hospitals and other health care facilities in breach-of-contract suit in New York state court
- Represented directors of private equity firm portfolio company in connection with proceedings in bankruptcy court in the Southern District of Florida
- Represented pharmaceutical manufacturer in litigation against FDA in federal court in New York, challenging on First Amendment and other grounds regulations governing pharmaceutical manufacturers’ truthful, non-misleading speech
- Represented subcontractors and suppliers of building materials as plaintiffs in breach-of-contract and lien-foreclosure actions against general contractors and property owners in New Jersey state court
- Represented international financial services firm in state and federal investigations, and as a non-party in civil litigation in federal court in California, concerning residential mortgage-backed securities
